Jamie Miller

In October, Jamie Miller released his EP The Things I Left Unsaid through BMG, having signed to them in May this year, with the EPs tracklist including his song Empty Room. Jamie has toured around the world with his music and appeared as a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show, and his upcoming plans are further music releases and headline shows. We recently chatted to Jamie, who told us about releasing his EP The Things I Left Unsaid, working with his record label BMG and what he enjoys about being a music artist.

Your new EP The Things I Left Unsaid was released through BMG on October 4th, can you tell us about the EP and where the inspiration came from for the songs?

I think overall the EP was about letting go and moving on from a toxic situation and I needed to let go of a lot of people unfortunately, but it taught me that people are only meant for a chapter in your book sometimes.

How was it deciding on the final tracklist and seeing the EP come together?

I just followed my gut a lot of the time… on how the songs still made me feel even months after writing them.

Did you have a favourite song on the EP to work on and what do you hope listeners will take from The Things I Left Unsaid?

I think Empty Room is a close favourite for me because it just means a lot. I want people to take away that it gets better, you just have to allow space for the greatness to come.

How has it been seeing the response to The Things I Left Unsaid so far?

It’s been absolutely insane… so grateful.

What was it like working with BMG on the release and how did you feel signing to them?

I love my BMG fam… feel so supported and loved by them and the best thing about them is that they believe in my vision and let me take the front lead on it.

Who do you think your music will appeal to and how would you describe your sound?

Anyone who’s going through real life stuff. I would say honest soul pop.

Is there anything you enjoy most about being a music artist and what are some of your favourite highlights of your career so far?

I feel so lucky that I get to wake up and give the world my journal entries to help them through whatever they’re going through. It’s a special feeling. I would say going on The Kelly Clarkson Show and being able to tour all around the world.

Where does your love of music come from and was it something you always wanted to do?

Always had it in me. No one in my family sings… I just knew it was the only thing I wanted to do.

What are some of your favourite music artists to listen to?

Tori Kelly, Adele and Bruno Mars.

How do you like to spend your free time?

With friends, hiking… or just chilling at home in my own space!

Do you have any upcoming plans that you can tell us about and what are you hoping the next year brings for you?

You’ll have to wait and see but lots more music and a lot of headline shows. 😉
