With Series 2 of The Beaker Girls currently airing weekly on CBBC, Daisey Hamilton plays regular character Patience, reprising her role from the first series in 2021, and the show’s final episode is set for release tomorrow at 6pm. Daisey stars alongside a cast including Dani Harmer as Tracy Beaker and Emma Maggie Davies as Jess Beaker, and Patience marks Daisey’s first major role on screen. Alongside acting, Daisey is also a model, working with brands such as Zara, River Island and Stella McCartney, and she has also filmed commercials including for Florette. Answering our questions, Daisey told us about being in the cast of The Beaker Girls, playing regular character Patience in the series and her time as a model so far.

In the CBBC series The Beaker Girls, you play the regular role of Patience, can you tell us about the character?

Patience is a Romany traveller, who is quite a strong-minded character. She’s very protective with those who she cares about especially Jess, her older brother Moses and her family. She has very strong values and cares a lot about the environment just like her Granny Biny before her!

What is Patience like to play and how is it seeing the fan response to the series?

I absolutely loved playing Patience as we’re quite similar in a lot of ways. She’s very sassy like me, which I love! The fans have been amazing! I’ve had so many lovely comments on social media.

How much did you know about the Tracy Beaker franchise before auditioning and do you remember how you felt finding out you’d booked the role for your major screen acting debut?

My older brothers loved Tracy Beaker when they were little so I had known about it. I cried when I found out I had booked the role as I was so, so excited to be in such a well-loved show and to also meet some of the original cast, who are all so lovely!

How do you find the experience on set of The Beaker Girls and what is it like working alongside the rest of the cast, which includes Dani Harmer as Tracy Beaker and Emma Maggie Davies as Jess Beaker?

I absolutely loved working with everyone! I’m best friends with Emma, we had sleepovers most weekends during filming, Buddy (Skelton) is really protective of me just like a big brother! Diya (Sohi), Mersey (Moore) and Chi (Megan Ennis-Mclean) are all like my big sisters, Noah’s (Leacock) like my annoying big brother who loves to tease me and Tarun’s (Sivakanesh) like our smart little brother who we all looked after! Working with Dani and Montanna (Thompson) was like a dream come true as I really look up to them as actors! If I named everyone I’d have to have a whole magazine but I must say Wim Snape, Simon Lipkin and Emma Handy are absolutely hilarious and I loved filming scenes with them.

What was it like returning to film Series 2 and how have you found your time as a regular character for CBBC?

I was so excited to see everyone again and to also meet all of the new characters. I’ve loved filming and I had a lot more scenes and episodes this series and I also got to film more with the other cast. I loved filming scenes with my Price family as we all got along just like a real family!

What are some of your favourite highlights from filming as Patience in The Beaker Girls?

I’ve had so many amazing storylines this series but if I had to choose some they would have to be: watching Tracy get arrested and seeing everyone’s reactions, filming on the beach, filming with my horses, and most of all, having fun with all the cast and crew all day, every day!

Having previously worked on commercials, what are they like to film and can you say about some of them?

All the storylines have been completely different on each one but they’ve all been so fun to do! My favourite of all-time was the Florette advert as I got to go to Spain to film it and also had to rap about salad, which was so, so funny to me. The Always advert had such a strong meaning to it and I loved being a part of that.

As well as being an actor, you are also a model, can you tell us about some of the modelling work you’ve been involved with?

I’ve been lucky enough to travel to lots of different countries for various brands like Zara and Mango but also River Island, Stella McCartney, Next and New Look in London!

Is there anything you enjoy most about working as a model?

I love anything to do with fashion and I love having my pictures taken as well having my hair and makeup done!

Where does your love of acting and modelling come from and how did you start in both?

I’ve always been a confident and outgoing person and my mum sent some pictures of me off to kids modelling agencies and it just rocketed from there.

Have you been given any advice over your career so far that has stuck with you?

I was always told to just be myself and follow my dreams, which I did!

What are some of your favourite films and TV shows to watch?

My all-time favourite film is Titanic and I love anything with Adam Sandler in! And I absolutely love the TV show Wednesday.

How do you like to spend your time away from acting and modelling?

I love doing makeup and dressing up as well as TikToks, and I love spending time with my friends and family.

What are you hoping 2023 brings for you?

Mainly happiness and fun times and anything else a bonus!
