Camryn Quinlan

Singer-songwriter Camryn Quinlan’s first single Better Days was released in 2017 for teen suicide prevention, with all proceeds going to The Muse Within, and has continued releasing music with her latest single Ain’t No Second Chance released earlier this year. Camryn’s cover of Candlelight by Zhavia Ward was watched and commented on by Zhavia with Glamour Magazine, and last year, Camryn was chosen to be part of acapella group Acapop! KIDS with Warner Records. Recently chatting with us, Camryn talks about her latest single Ain’t No Second Chance, joining Acapop! KIDS and her upcoming music plans.

Can you tell us about your latest single Ain’t No Second Chance?

It’s a song I wrote about relationships and how sometimes they aren’t meant to be.

What’s the response been like to the release and how do you feel your music has evolved since starting out?

My fans seem to like it. My songwriting skills have gotten much better and my concepts and ideas are evolving.

Where do you get the inspiration from for your music?

My inspirations come from everyday life, movies and even books.

Your first single Better Days is to bring awareness to teen suicide prevention, with all proceeds going towards The Muse Within, how did this come about?

A girl in my town took her own life and it really broke my heart. I wanted to help other people with my music. My teacher, Jack Licitra, helped me record the song. The Muse Within has given me opportunities so I felt I should pay it back by helping other kids.

How and when did you realise you have a talent for writing songs?

When I started writing, I noticed how fast I came up with lyrics and I wanted to continue to be the best writer I could be. When my parents cried after I wrote Better Days, I knew I was getting good.

Last year, you were selected to be part of acapella group Acapop! KIDS with Warner Records, what’s it like to be part of?

Being part of Acapop! KIDS is amazing. I’m so lucky to work with such talented kids from around the country. We always have a good time when we are together.

For those that haven’t heard of Acapop! KIDS, can you say about the group?

Acapop! KIDS is a group of kids aged from seven to seventeen who harmonise and sing songs that you hear on the radio without any instruments. We use just our own voices.

How different do you find recording and releasing music alone opposed to working with Acapop! KIDS?

It’s a little different because when you are alone you can be more creative, but in a group you have a specific role.

How was it having Zhavia Ward watch and comment on your cover of Candlelight with Glamour Magazine?

That was crazy! It was such a surprise to find out. I love her music – especially that song!

What do you enjoy most about filming music videos?

The finished product and seeing how cool the video turned out.

Are there any British music artists you’d like to collaborate with?

Dua Lipa, Harry Styles or Adele!

We understand you’re involved with charity work, can you tell us more about this?

I like helping other people and giving back through my music. If someone asks me to perform, I always try to make it possible. I recently began teaming up with NAMI to bring awareness of support available for teenagers and young adults.

What do you enjoy doing away from your career?

I love hanging with my family and friends, going on my trampoline, watching movies and going to the beach.

What upcoming plans do you have for your music?

I am currently spending the summer in the studio recording original music. I will also be recording new Acapop! KIDS songs.
