Chatting to Caroline, she talks about preparing for Fashion Weeks, releasing Making It in Manhattan and her advice for working in the fashion industry.

Where does your love of fashion stem from?

I’ve always wanted to work in fashion. Growing up, I always insisted on dressing myself and when I was ten I wanted to be an artist! Eventually I discovered fashion and design and simply fell in love with the industry.

Can you tell us how you prepare for Fashion Weeks?

I work with different designers and showrooms to pull looks leading up to it! I also just try to take it easy the weeks leading up to it though because I know once it comes everything is non-stop – but I love it!

How has the New York Fashion Week been for you?

It’s been great! I just wrapped up my last show today and it was a really good season!

What are you looking forward to for the upcoming Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks?

I love going to Europe and connecting with all of the brands out there! I can’t wait for the MSGM show.

Can you tell us about working behind the scenes of a fashion show?

The energy and excitement is like nothing I’ve ever seen before!

How is it working on publications such as Teen Vogue and Marie Claire?

I started my career working on fashion magazines and I absolutely loved the experience. I learned so much about the industry that I was able to apply to my career now. It’s a super fast-paced, high-pressure environment but also incredibly inspiring.

What do you remember from styling your first celebrity for an event?

When I just turned 21, I styled MTV celebrities for the VMAs. I didn’t know anything about styling at the time but I knew how incredible this opportunity was for someone my age so I jumped at it!

Can you tell us about your book Making It in Manhattan?

I wanted to create an all-encompassing beginners guide book for the future fashion generation. It’s super fun and written in a conversational style so you feel like you’re reading my journal or speaking directly to me.

How long were you working on your book?

I started writing it in 2015 and it came out in 2018!

What do you enjoy most about your career?

That I get to collaborate with so many brands I love.

Do you have a favourite style of clothing to wear?

Anything with colour or sequins!

What advice would you give someone wanting to get into the fashion industry?

Be ready to work really hard, be nice to everyone, and enjoy the ride!
