During the festive season, Alexander Kranz is starring as Peter Pan in The All New Adventures of Peter Pan at Grove Theatre in Dunstable, with the pantomime running until Sunday 4th January 2026 and also starring Rita Simons (as Captain Hook), Rhys Stephenson (as Charlie), Will Kenning (as Mrs Sweet), Aoife Haakenson (as Tink), Natasha Hoeberigs (as Miss Doodle / Myrtle) and Imogen Craig (as Poppy Sunshine). Before opening at Grove Theatre, Alexander had recently finished playing Shadow and understudy Michael Darling in Wendy & Peter Pan at the Barbican Theatre with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and for his training, he attended The Urdang Academy and performed as Arthur Kipps in 2023 for the end-of-year production of Kipps. We spoke to Alexander about starring as Peter Pan in The All New Adventures of Peter Pan at the Grove Theatre in Dunstable, playing Shadow and understudy Michael Darling in Wendy & Peter Pan and performing as Arthur Kipps in The Urdang Academy’s production of Kipps.
You are currently starring as Peter Pan in The All New Adventures of Peter Pan at Grove Theatre in Dunstable, what are you looking forward to for spending the festive season in pantomime?
It is such a treat to spend my festive season spreading pantomime magic, joy, and silliness to people of all ages, it is my pleasure, truly!
What is the character like to play and what will you bring to the role?
Peter Pan is the quintessence of childhood and the epitome of play and heroism, what a magical energy to step into and bring forth from myself and deliver to the Grove stage!
How are you preparing for opening night, and what is it like working alongside Rita Simons (Captain Hook), Rhys Stephenson (Charlie), Will Kenning (Mrs Sweet), Aoife Haakenson (Tink), Natasha Hoeberigs (Miss Doodle / Myrtle) and Imogen Craig (Poppy Sunshine)?
Honestly, every single person in this art is so incredibly talented and, beyond that, is a lovely bunch of gorgeous people, so it’s been a fab collaboration bringing this festive piece to life together.
How is it interacting with the audience and seeing families getting involved?
Audiences are in for an amazing ride with this pantomime: we have jokes, we have traditions, we have production value and we have top-notch show quality! I hope everyone enjoys it as we will.

You have just finished playing Shadow (and understudy Michael Darling) in Wendy & Peter Pan at the Barbican Theatre with the Royal Shakespeare Company, what was the show like to perform in and how did the run go?
This show was another magical treat to be a part of! The production and direction and the set, all of it had such a whimsical nature to it and we all had so much fun performing the play for its five-week run.
How different is it working on a pantomime production of Peter Pan opposed to a Royal Shakespeare Company production and what is it like telling the different versions of the stories?
They have been two completely different productions and experiences, but it’s been so interesting to see how the joy and heart of the Peter Pan stories prevails in both of these shows!
What was it like training at The Urdang Academy and performing as Arthur Kipps in their production of Kipps during your final year in 2023?
Urdang was crazy intense, and so much fun; performing as Kipps was the cherry on top for me for a beautiful three years, working as hard as I could day in and day out.
How did you get into acting and was it always something you wanted to do professionally?
I started with local am-dram, developed onto stage schools and eventually college and uni, now I do it for a living! From my first school Christmas show as the Wicked Witch (yep!), I knew this was my destiny.
