From Saturday 6th December, Georgia May Foote will be making her pantomime debut playing Cinderella in the Norwich Theatre Royal pantomime, which runs until Sunday 4th January. Georgia will be working alongside Danny Hatchard as Prince Charming, Jeevan Braich as Dandini, Hannah Jane Fox as Fairy Godmother and Joe Tracini (who also wrote this year’s pantomime for Norwich Theatre Royal) as Buttons. Having a career on both stage and screen, Georgia has appeared in numerous projects including The Rocky Horror Show as Colombia, and from 2010 to 2015, she played Katy Armstrong in Coronation Street, and previously had her first on-screen regular character playing Alison Simmons in Grange Hill. In 2015, Georgia was a contestant on Series 13 on Strictly Come Dancing, where she reached the Final alongside Kellie Bright (EastEnders) and the eventual winner Jay McGuiness (The Wanted). Talking to Georgia, she told us about making her pantomime debut in Cinderella at Norwich Theatre Royal this Christmas, her time playing Katy Armstrong in Coronation Street and Alison Simmons in Grange Hill and reaching the Final of Strictly Come Dancing in 2015.

How does it feel to be taking on the role of Cinderella this festive season in Norwich Theatre Royal’s pantomime, which opens on Saturday 6th December, and what can audiences expect from your portrayal?

I am so excited to be spending the festive period in Norwich having fun! I think every girl dreams of being a princess so I can’t wait to play the part of Cinderella, I think the audience can expect lots of fun from myself and the rest of the cast.

Cinderella marks your pantomime debut, what are you looking forward to for returning to the stage to star in your first-ever pantomime and was there anything that drew you to the show?

Yes, Cinderella is my first panto! I think I wanted to end the year in a really positive way and I thought ‘what better way to do that than in the happiest job there is!’. Everyone is in great spirits and I can’t wait to soak up that atmosphere!

How has it been reading this year’s Cinderella script and how are you preparing for opening night?

It’s been so fun! It has obviously got a little twist on the traditional script so it was great to read! I just can’t wait to get into rehearsals and bring it all to life!

What has it been like meeting your fellow cast members including Danny Hatchard as Prince Charming, Joe Tracini as Buttons, Jeevan Braich as Dandini and Hannah Jane Fox as Fairy Godmother, and have you worked with any of them previously?

I haven’t worked with any of the cast previously, however I have met Joe a long time ago! We all met for the first time on the photoshoot and everyone seemed really lovely! We will all be reunited again soon for rehearsals!

Why would you recommend booking tickets to see Cinderella at Norwich Theatre Royal, which will be running until Sunday 4th January 2026, and how do you think you will find the experience interacting with the family audience?

I would absolutely recommend buying tickets to see Cinderella this year! The last time I was on stage and interacted with the audience was Rocky Horror, and that was one of my favourite jobs I have ever done so I’m looking forward to panto for similar reasons.

Do you have any favourite highlights from playing Katy Armstrong in Coronation Street that you can share, and how was it developing the character over the years?

I loved playing Katy Armstrong on Coronation Street. Over the five years I was there, she grew from a schoolgirl to a young woman and it was lovely to follow that journey with her! I learnt so much on that show from the other cast members around me. She was a huge part of my acting career thus far and I’ll always have a place for her in my heart.

What was it like working alongside the rest of the Coronation Street cast and is there anything you miss most about filming for the show?

It was amazing working alongside so many people on Coronation Street. You had people who had been there from the start and knew how a soap ran like the back of your hand. You had people there who played more comedy-type roles and I learnt loads from them. Also, the speed in which we work as soap actors is very overlooked, I learnt so much because of this.

Do you remember how you felt finding out you’d booked the role of Alison Simmons in Grange Hill for your first on-screen regular character and what was it like being part of the series?

Yes! I remember it so clearly. I remember the phone call! I remember waiting for the phone call too! It was a long audition process and I knew it was between myself and one of my fellow actor friends. So when I got the call I just remember my dreams coming true. Being part of that show was iconic. I will NEVER forget every single second of that job.

In 2015, you were a contestant on Series 13 of Strictly Come Dancing, what are some of your stand-out memories from your time on the show and how did you feel reaching the Final?

I felt that when I appeared on Strictly, I completely grew as a performer, and as a woman. I was 24, had never done anything like that before, I was nervous. I was so proud of myself for the first time and got so much more confidence. I think performing at Blackpool, in front of my grandma and my dad, will always be up there as a huge moment in my life.

Where does your love of acting come from and how did you originally get into it?

I have always been the child who doesn’t sit still or be quiet! My parents began fostering when I was eight years old and to make sure I had something that was for me they sent me to a drama workshop. It all just went from there! I started with extra work and got my first speaking part on a BBC Three drama called Convictions when I was 11, Grange Hill came next and I haven’t stopped since! Acting always has my heart. Performing is when I feel my happiest.

Do you have any favourite films, TV and theatre shows to watch, and how do you like to spend your free time?

I love a musical! I am always in awe of the absolute raw talent up on those stages! The way people can be so vulnerable and perform so freely blows my mind! I absolutely love watching a good film, especially action films. I love a good comedy and don’t think you can beat a good British drama. We really do do them best!

I love spending my free time with my friends, going to the gym, running and cuddling my bulldog Barry.
