Recently, Kyle has been touring the UK and Ireland in the Max Martin jukebox musical & Juliet as François, and his further projects have included playing Wyatt in Crazy For You at Chichester Festival Theatre and Billy when the musical transferred to the West End’s Gillian Lynne Theatre, Jack Wright in Treason the Musical and Paul Williams in the West End premiere of Ain’t Too Proud at the Prince Edward Theatre. Catching up with Kyle, he chatted to us about performing in the hugely-popular Christmas show Elf the Musical, his recent role of François in & Juliet and his time in Crazy For You, Treason the Musical and Ain’t Too Proud.

You are in the cast of Elf the Musical at the Aldwych Theatre in the West End, how has it been returning to the show having been part of the company in 2022?

It’s been absolutely brilliant to return! Elf has such an infectious energy that you can’t help but have a good time. We all know the show so well now, but there’s still that buzz of excitement each time we perform it. It’s a joy to see the audience’s faces light up, especially the kids who are experiencing the story for the first time.

Was there anything that originally drew you to the production and what is it like performing in a hugely-popular Christmas show?

I’ve always loved Elf the film! It’s such a feel-good classic, so when the opportunity came to be part of the musical, it was an easy “yes”. Performing in a Christmas show like this is special because you’re part of people’s festive traditions.

How was it learning the choreography and do you have a favourite musical number?

The choreography is a lot of fun – high energy, sharp, and full of that showy sparkle! It keeps you on your toes, literally. My favourite number has to be Nobody Cares About Santa. It’s such a showstopper – big, brassy, and full of attitude.

With Elf the Musical being adapted from the 2003 film starring Will Ferrell, why do you think the story works so well as a musical?

The film already has such strong emotional beats, and the musical really amplifies that through song and dance. The musical numbers bring that magic to life in a way only theatre can.

Have you worked with any of this year’s cast previously, and what was it like meeting them for the first time?

Yes, I’ve worked with a few returning cast members from the 2022 cast. It’s been equally exciting meeting the new company members. Everyone’s brought their own energy and personality.

Who do you think Elf the Musical will appeal to and why would you recommend booking tickets for the run at the Aldwych Theatre, which is booking until Saturday 3rd January 2026?

Honestly – everyone! It’s not just for kids; it’s for anyone who needs a reminder of the joy and silliness of Christmas.

In the recent UK & Ireland Tour of & Juliet, you were seen playing François, how would you describe the character and what was he like to play?

François is such a gem of a character! Awkward, sweet, and full of heart. He starts out shy and uncertain but finds his voice throughout the show. Playing him was a so much fun because his journey is so uplifting. He’s proof that kindness and vulnerability can be powerful.

What did you enjoy most about touring with & Juliet and how was it performing in a Max Martin jukebox musical?

The music! Getting to sing those iconic Max Martin hits every night was unreal! Touring also gave me a chance to perform for audiences all over the UK and Ireland. Every city brought a slightly different energy, which kept things exciting.

Had you seen & Juliet before joining the cast and do you have any stand-out highlights from the tour that you can share?

I had seen it in the West End and loved it, so joining the cast was such a treat. A stand-out moment for me was performing in Glasgow, the energy was electric and the audience loved every second of the show!

How was your time playing Wyatt in Crazy For You at Chichester Festival Theatre in 2022 and what was it like transferring with the show to the West End’s Gillian Lynne Theatre as Billy?

I was lucky enough to play two roles in this show. Both times I had such a lovely time. Chichester audiences are amazing, and when we transferred to the Gillian Lynne, the show just exploded with even more life.

Can you tell us about being in the cast of Treason the Musical as Jack Wright?

Playing Jack Wright allowed me to tap into a very different energy compared to some of the other roles I have played, it was fun to be able to try a new style of show. The show has such an interesting arc and it’s rewarding to be part of something original on the UK theatre scene.

What are some of your favourite memories from performing in the West End premiere of Ain’t Too Proud at the Prince Edward Theatre?

Being part of Ain’t Too Proud was incredible. The story of The Temptations is legendary, and the music is just timeless. I’ll never forget the first time hearing the audience react to those iconic songs live at Magic at the Musicals!

Have you seen any theatre shows recently that you’ve particularly enjoyed?

Yes, I recently saw Dear England and was completely captivated by it. It’s such a powerful piece of storytelling, I left the theatre feeling genuinely inspired.

How do you like to spend your free time?

When I’m not performing, I try to relax with friends and family. I have also recently been reading a lot of fantasy books, which have been keeping me very busy.
