đź“· : Ole Hoff

Thea Evans has a number of upcoming projects – she will play Evie Clover in feature film Finding Awesome (with Lucas Allerman, who she has previously worked with), Ava in short film Crosswinds, and in feature film Blurred, she will play Younger Fiona (HelĂ©na Antonio’s character), with the film also written and directed by HelĂ©na. During her career as an actor so far, Thea has played Mindy in The Dancing Queen, Bunny Robin in the horror/slasher film Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 (for which she worked with Lucas Allerman and her on-screen family – Scott Chambers as brother Christopher Robin, Alec Newman as father Alan and Nicola Wright as mother Daphne), and she reunited with some of her fellow cast members when she attended the premiere at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square in 2024. Having worked on a number of commercials, Thea is currently in Spain filming for a car advert, and she previously filmed for Nintendo, McDonald’s, and she worked with Freddie Flintoff and the England cricket team for England Cricket/Castore Sportswear. In the hugely-popular BBC musical adaptation of Charlie Mackesy’s The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, Thea featured as a singer/soloist for the studio recording, and she started her career at the age of four as a model. Catching up with Thea, she told us about her upcoming projects – Finding Awesome, Crosswinds and Blurred, playing Bunny Robin in the horror/slasher film Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 and being involved with the musical adaptation of Charlie Mackesy’s The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse.

You will be playing Evie Clover in the upcoming film Finding Awesome, is there anything you can tell us about the film and your character?

Evie is a disabled girl with a condition that stops her legs from working and could make her life very short. She wants to rename the disease with a long complicated name, Awesome disease, to make people stop feeling so negative and scared about it. She has an amazing positive mindset and a best friend who helps her through everything called Max.

What drew you to the role of Evie and how was it filming alongside the rest of the cast?

Evie is an inspirational character who never lets bad things get in the way. She doesn’t let anything stop her and I love that. Filming with the cast was really fun. I helped with the casting of Max, my best friend in the film. Lucas Allerman stood out straight away and we had so much fun on set together. The grown-ups also had loads of fun with us, and the location was amazing!

How would you describe your character Ava in the upcoming short film Crosswinds and what was she like to play?

Ava is more quiet than me and has a special relationship with her granddad. She is sensitive, especially because her dad died. She shows lots of emotions through the film and my favourite part was driving around in old cars and filming in a hospital set.

Another upcoming project you are involved with is the feature film Blurred, in which you play Younger Fiona; how was it playing the younger version of Heléna Antonio’s character (who also wrote and directed the film)?

It was a gruesome scene, I cannot say much because it is not out yet, but I saw some cool SFX and Heléna was really lovely. I played with the other kids on set lots and the location was really nice.

What are you looking forward to for the release of all three films and who do you think each will appeal to?

Blurred is for adults, I don’t think I will be allowed to watch it! I hope all my friends will watch Finding Awesome because it is good for kids and grown-ups. Crosswinds I think everyone will like too!

I am looking forward to the premieres and choosing my dress.

How was your time on set of The Dancing Queen and how was it taking on the role of Mindy?

This was one of my favourite experiences ever. My sister Willow was also in the movie and also Thea Harkness and Lexi Lancaster. We had loads of fun on set. Rico Morris and Kelly Rian Sanson were the coolest adults! They made us laugh a lot and we got some great bloopers!

How did you find the experience playing Bunny Robin in the 2024 horror/slasher film Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 and what was it like on set of a horror film?

I loved being Bunny! The art department was really interesting! Winnie-the-Pooh let me try on his gloves and I loved seeing the set being put together, especially the cave where Winnie and his friends gathered. I found a fake leg in there, which was fascinating! The Hundred Acre Wood was an amazing location and there was a farm there with animals who I had a good time playing with! I had lots of fun with Tallulah Evans, who played Lexi, and messing around with the fake blood!! 🩸

What was it like meeting and working with your on-screen family Scott Chambers as brother Christopher Robin, Alec Newman as father Alan and Nicola Wright as mother Daphne, and what are some of your favourite memories from this project?

Scott and my fake parents were lovely! You would never guess it was a scary movie because we were laughing a lot and joking around. They made me very comfortable.

What was it like attending the premiere at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square in March 2024?

I wasn’t allowed to watch the movie but loved dressing up in my pink dress and having the photos. I had photos with my co-star Lucas Allerman who I then went on to act with in Finding Awesome!

Mum and my great auntie watched the screening and my great uncle had to take me home. But we had a nice dinner and it was an exciting evening!

How was it recording as a singer for the BBC for the musical adaptation of Charlie Mackesy’s The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse?

It was fun to work with other kids from my agency Terra Libra and record in Steve Winwood’s studio with Charlotte Freud, who wrote the music, and Freud Productions. Charlie has always been a big supporter of my work and it was fun to workshop and record with him.

We understand you filmed for England Cricket/Castore Sportswear with Freddie Flintoff and the England team, can you tell us about this?

It was fun to see the Oval Cricket Stadium and I got to say hi to Freddie and the team. I loved the kit and made new friends.

How did you get into acting and was it always something you wanted to do professionally?

I started as a model with a London agent after being spotted by a photographer. My mum and family have always been in the industry and my mum then set up an agency when I got busy, and I moved into acting, which I prefer a lot more than modelling. I have been working since I was four so it is all I know. But I know I love it!

What are some of your favourite films and TV shows to watch?

Sam & Cat and iCarly on Netflix. I love High School Musical: The Musical – The Series on Disney+. I like American shows and have an agent in LA too, CESD Talent, so hopefully I will get to be in one one day!

How do you like to spend your time away from acting?

Horse riding, hanging out with family and friends and going on adventures! Luckily my acting takes me overseas on some great adventures!

Can you say about some of the commercials you’ve been part of, which have included Nintendo, McDonald’s and Honda, and filming with brands such as Pip and Posy at Blenheim Palace?

Commercials are fun, especially when they are abroad. I am currently in Spain for a car ad and I love travelling and seeing new places and meeting new people!

So far, I have been to Romania, Lithuania, Spain twice to different parts and all over the UK with work. Everyone is so friendly… but this time I have to have tutoring as the shoot is 10 days! 👎🏻

Apart from Finding Awesome, Crosswinds and Blurred, do you have any further projects coming up that you can share and what are you hoping the next year brings for your acting career?

I have some really big recalls in the next few weeks for feature films with A-list casts so have everything crossed for a busy year!
