For her first professional acting project, Emily Ring joined The Addams Family franchise playing Young Wednesday in Series 2 of Wednesday on Netflix. Emily was in the cast with Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester), Jenna Ortega (lead character Wednesday Addams) and Georgie Farmer (Ajax Petropolus), and she was directed by Tim Burton and Paco Cabezas, and, after booking her role of Young Wednesday, Emily was a guest on The Six O’Clock Show (in Ireland), with Brian Dowling and Darren Kennedy presenting. Having only started acting last year, Emily also has a modelling career, including with the UPA fashion show. Talking with Emily, she told us about playing Young Wednesday in Wednesday on Netflix, working with the cast including Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester and being directed by Tim Burton and Paco Cabezas.

You can be seen playing Young Wednesday in Series 2 of Wednesday on Netflix, how did you feel finding out you’d booked the role?

I was extremely excited and I couldn’t believe I got the role. This was my first-ever audition.

How did you prepare for filming and what was it like meeting your fellow cast members?

I watched some of Wednesday – not the scary parts, just to see how Jenna (Ortega) was acting. It’s come very natural to me. I’ve also seen all The Addams Family movies and cartoons. Met some of the cast and everyone was so nice and kind.

What was Young Wednesday like to play and how was it getting into costume?

It was so much fun and felt so real. Loved the costume and hair and makeup process as well.

How did you find the experience on set of Wednesday and what was it like filming your scenes?

Magical! Everything look so real. My two scenes were so much fun, especially the car scene with Fred (Armisen).

How was it being directed by Tim Burton and Paco Cabezas?

They are amazing directors. My dream come true to work with Tim Burton and Paco Cabezas.

Is there anything you feel you learnt from having Wednesday as your first professional acting project?

I learned so much. There were a lot of people on set with different jobs. In the end, I wasn’t scared by the number of people around. I got to know many of them, and they made me feel comfortable and confident.

Do you have any favourite memories from your time filming for Wednesday that you can tell us about?

Yes, my favourite memory is meeting Fred and the driving scene.

What did you enjoy most about being part of Wednesday and joining The Addams Family franchise?

I feel the luckiest girl in the world. I always wanted to be part of The Addams Family.

How did you feel watching your scenes for the first time when the series was released on Netflix in August?

I was screaming with excitement but nervous the same time.

You were a guest on The Six O’Clock Show, hosted by Brian Dowling and Darren Kennedy, what was it like filming your interview on live TV?

I was scared first but then I was ok. It was so much fun.

Having only started acting last year, do you have a favourite aspect of being an actor?

I just love playing a different character and it’s so much fun being on set.
