As a voiceover actor, Aidan has voiced Leo Chockers in Let’s Go Luna! and Marzipan in Butterbean’s CafĆ©. Answering our questions, Aidan chats about his guest role of Finn David in Hudson & Rex this year, playing Moose Freed in Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret and his time as Liam Novak in I Am Not Okay with This.

Earlier this year, you could be seen as guest character Finn David in the new series of Hudson & Rex, had you seen the show before auditioning and how was it meeting the regular cast?

Yes, I had watched Hudson & Rex. My aunt really loves the show, so I watched it with her.

The regular cast on Hudson & Rex were super friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed working with them.

How would you describe Finn and what was it like filming your episode?

Finn is a soft-spoken boy who has been traumatised by his dad’s murder. He was a nice character to play because he has a good relationship with his mom.

Filming this episode of Hudson & Rex was amazing. I had never been to Newfoundland before and it was an incredible adventure. I played basketball almost every night on a local court and a group of local players invited me to join them, which was really fun. Also, the crew were some of the nicest I’ve ever worked with. Newfoundland is just an incredible place to film a show and I’d love to go back.

What was Moose Freed like to play in Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret and can you tell us about the film and your character?

Moose was a fun character to play because he’s a little bit mischievous but he’s also very down to earth, kind and a responsible young man. Moose plays Margaret’s ā€˜love interest’ and is best friends with Evan Wheeler, who is the brother of Margaret’s best friend.

How did you prepare for playing Moose and do you remember how you felt finding out you’d booked the role?

I prepared for the role of Moose by reading the book and working with the on-set acting coach.

I was ecstatic when I found out that I’d booked the role. I actually was offered another role at the same time, a TV series filming in Toronto, but it was a very easy choice for me. I was so excited about the opportunity to be in a Judy Blume movie.

What are some of your stand-out memories from your time on set of Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, and how was it attending the Los Angeles film premiere in 2023?

Meeting Judy Blume was a highlight of my time on set. She was so kind and so pleasant. I also loved hanging out with the other kids. We all became really good friends.

The premiere was incredible. We all watched the movie at the Regency Village Theatre in LA. Judy Blume was there along with the director, Kelly Fremon Craig, James L. Brooks and, of course, my agents, who are always so supportive of me.

What did you enjoy most about being part of the Netflix series I Am Not Okay with This and taking on the role of Liam Novak?

Having the opportunity to be a part of the creation of such a unique and well-done show was incredible. People still talk about that show today and tell me it’s one of their favourite series. It was really well-written, directed and cast. It was just such a great project to be a part of.

How was it working with the rest of the cast, which included Sophia Lillis as your on-screen sister Sydney Novak, and did you have any favourite scenes or episodes to film?

The rest of the cast were great. Sophia is a really talented actor and someone you can learn a lot from. She is extremely professional to work with.

One of my favourite scenes is the ā€˜Liam’s loaded lasagna’ scene and the one where Sydney and I are grocery shopping in the convenience store. Honestly, the entire show was amazing to film. I loved every episode.

Can you tell us about your experience playing Frank in the supernatural series Falling Water and what was it like joining the show in Series 2?

I was only 10 when I was on Falling Water so I was pretty young. The regular cast on this show were great. I particularly enjoyed working with David Ajala. He really took me under his wing and helped me a lot on set.

For your first regular role, you played Jacob in Playdate, what do you remember most from working on this show?

I played a little boy whose puppet, Mac, came to life when they were alone in my attic bedroom. This was the first series I’d ever worked on and it was a ton of fun.

What I remember most about working on this series is that my mom was pregnant with my little brother and she went into labour the day after my last day on set so I almost missed seeing my little brother come into the world.

As a voiceover actor, you voiced Leo Chockers in Series 1 of Let’s Go Luna! and Marzipan in Butterbean’s CafĆ©, how was this?

I enjoyed doing voiceover work. It’s a good gig for a young actor just starting out.

How did you get into on-screen acting and voiceover, and did you always know you wanted a career in the acting industry?

My mom suggested I try it because people kept stopping her when I was really little and telling her that I should be a baby model. When I was five, I did a local theatre camp and loved it, so my parents took me to a talent agent in Toronto. They signed me up and it wasn’t too long before I was cast in a movie called Pay the Ghost with Nicolas Cage.

What are some of your favourite films and TV shows to watch?

Movie-wise, I love the Pixar Cars series. My favourite TV shows include Dexter and The Office.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I play a lot of basketball, listen to music, hang out with friends drive around a lot and spend time with my family. I also love watching WWII documentaries. I’m a bit of a history buff.

Do you have any projects coming up that you can share and what are you hoping this year brings for you?

I have just been cast in a new series which will start filming in July.

I’m hoping this year brings some exciting new roles, the opportunity to meet new people and to travel to some interesting places.
