In the new Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Kyriana Kratter plays co-lead role KB alongside Jude Law, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Ravi Cabot-Conyers and Robert Timothy Smith. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew releases weekly, with episode 7 airing this week and, having premiered on December 3rd, all previous episodes are available to stream on Disney+. Ahead of the series premiering, Kyriana attended a number of events including the UK Photocall at Trafalgar Square in London and the launch event at Disneyland in California. For Kyriana’s first recurring TV character, she joined Series 5 of Disney’s Bunk’d as Nadine, and her further projects include short films and the Christian indie feature film The Healing Garden in 2021, in which she played Hope. Kyriana answers our questions about being a co-lead in Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, what KB is like to play and her time as Nadine in Disney’s Bunk’d.
How did you feel when your new series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew released on Disney+ on December 3rd, and how has it been seeing the fan response to the release so far?
I was so happy and excited! I’ve had to keep it a secret for so long. It felt so good that people could finally see what I’ve been working on. Some of my friends didn’t even know I was on a show, and were texting me “I saw your face on Disney+!” after it was released. I try not to go on social media too much but I’ve heard from multiple people that they love it, which makes me so happy!
Can you tell us about Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and why would you recommend watching it?
Skeleton Crew is for everyone! It can be for fans who already love Star Wars or people who are looking for a show to watch over the holidays. My grandparents and their friends are watching it, my parents and their friends, and my friends. That’s three different generations! People who love Star Wars will also be able to see Easter eggs from other Star Wars shows. I think kids my age and younger will also love it since it’s got thrill, adventure, and pirates!
How would you describe your character KB and what is she like to play?
KB is a quiet girl. She’s resourceful, smart, good with machines and electronics, and always tries to do the right thing. Jon Watts and Chris Ford gave me a lot of freedom to create her character. I used what clues they gave me from the audition scripts, the working scripts, and from talking to them. I was able to add in aspects of my own personality and also take inspiration from other characters in Star Wars and other shows. Before Skeleton Crew, I played mostly energetic and vibrant characters. KB is so different and it was fun to branch out. Because her eyes are covered, I had to relearn how to act and get better at using everything but my eyes.
What have been the most challenging, and most rewarding, aspects of playing KB and how did you prepare for filming?
The most challenging part was having my eyes covered by my visor most of the time. To make sure it didn’t look like I was staring blankly at people, I became more active with using my eyebrows as well as my mouth and nose! It was really great training and I became a lot more aware of my body language and facial expressions.
How familiar were you with Star Wars before auditioning and what has it been like joining the franchise for the new series?
I’ve been a Star Wars fan ever since I was a little kid. I watched A New Hope with my whole family when I was five years old. It’s been a dream to be a part of this franchise. I still can’t believe I have an action figure and a Funko Pop! of my character. It’s also humbling because I’m stepping into a cherished franchise. I hope what I contribute as KB makes a good impact on the Star Wars world.
What is it like on the set of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and what do you enjoy most about filming with your co-stars Jude Law, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Ravi Cabot-Conyers and Robert Timothy Smith?
I love how we always have fun together. Jude was always ready to work but he took the time to have fun and bond with each one of us.
Ryan is the best! She’s been acting for a long time and I learned a lot from her. She’s such a professional on set and is just very responsible overall. I think the boys can agree that she’s the big sister of the group.
Ravi is like my younger brother. He’s a really hard worker and along with acting, he took up other jobs on set like tape marking, tape mustaches, and using the clapboard. He also animates and edits. He even made little edited montages of us playing Roblox and things we did outside of set. I love rewatching them because it brings back so many memories.
Robert is so much fun! The moment he steps on set, everyone is in a brighter mood. He always manages to make me laugh and he really helped take away any pressure or anxiety that we felt during filming.
All of them are such amazing, loving people and I learned so much just by watching them work. I love them so much!
Do you have any stand-out highlights from your time filming as KB that you can share?
During Halloween, a props guy dressed up as KB and surprised all of us! It was so funny because hair and makeup, costumes, and props worked together secretly to create my look on him! He had the same jumpsuit in his size, a makeshift but believable visor, but he didn’t need a wig because he already had a silver bob!

How have you found the experience attending promotional events for the series, such as the UK Photocall at Trafalgar Square in London and the launch event at Disneyland in California?
It’s been so much fun! It was really exciting getting to meet the fans who woke up super early just to see me, Jude, and the other kids! Everyone there was so sweet and supportive. I’m such a London girlie and I also got to fulfill my tourist dreams of riding on a double decker bus like in the Smiths song.
My second favourite place in the world is Disneyland! I was so happy when I heard our premiere would be in Tomorrowland! The red carpet was right in front of the Millennium Falcon which was so incredible.
You have worked on a number of short films over your acting career so far, can you tell us about some of them?
They are short but sweet! I did several shorts for Gray Studios and some pandemic shorts for Diasporadic Films. In one, I filmed in the mountains in Colorado alongside a friend who filmed in Los Angeles. In another, I filmed in a creepy, abandoned supermarket with other child actors. A number of them have gone on to do some great stuff.
In Series 5 of Disney’s Bunk’d, you played the recurring role of Nadine, how was it booking the role for your first recurring TV character and what was it like meeting the regular cast for the first time?
Star Wars is a dream of mine, but my first and most cherished dream was to be on Bunk’d! I started watching the original show, Jessie, when I was four years old and I was obsessed. When I got my first audition for Bunk’d, I had to decline because I was already working on something else and I was devastated. Then Nadine came along and I was so determined to get this part. When I got it I was screaming! My manager was crying! I was so excited to meet my idols on set. I was supposed to do three episodes but it turned into five and it was so much fun. Hard work but lots of fun and everyone was so incredibly nice. I will never forget a single person I met on Bunk’d!
How was it getting into character as Nadine and what was it like being part of a long-running Disney series?
Nadine is such a fun character. She’s so me but exponentially more energetic and naughty. I’ve always wanted to be a superhero so being Nadine was a blast. She is the opposite of KB. I still had to be really disciplined the weeks that I was working on Bunk’d. There were a lot of lines to get right and the script would change a lot every single night. Everyone was so supportive. I really had a great time.
Can you tell us about playing Hope in the 2021 feature film The Healing Garden?
The Healing Garden was my breakthrough role. It’s a Christian indie film and I play one of the two main characters. I jumped right in and did my best. We were living in Colorado during filming and I quickly became friends with everyone on set. I was so motivated that I memorised the entire script word for word, even other people’s lines and stage directions! I still feel very connected to the film.
How did you get into acting and was it something you always wanted to do professionally?
I started out modelling and I was always singing and dancing. I did a lot of theatre camps and acting camps. When I was eight, I auditioned for Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol at Littleton Town Hall in Colorado. I did over 30 shows that season and I found my passion. I realised I loved everything about being an artist. I did another Christmas show in Colorado the next year and started auditioning in Los Angeles after Complete Management and Paradigm took me on.
What are some of your favourite films and TV shows to watch, and how do you like to spend your time away from acting?
I love watching Studio Ghibli films, rom-coms, and K-dramas! I just started watching Gilmore Girls. One of my favourite series is The Good Place. I was so excited to meet Dominic Burgess on set. Even though he was completely dressed as a pirate I knew immediately it was Henry – the red boots guy. I was able to meet Manny Jacinto at Convention. In my pictures with him, I have the biggest smile! When I’m not acting, I love singing, songwriting, playing my electric guitar, watercolouring, browsing Pinterest, decorating my room, and shopping with friends.
What are you hoping 2025 brings for you and do you have any projects coming up that you can talk about?
I would love to be in an A24 film and a martial arts film!
