Gyasi talks to us about playing the Prince in Snow White at De Montfort Hall in Leicester this Christmas, being a presenter for CBeebies and signing his 10-book deal with Sweet Cherry.

From 13th December, you will be playing the Prince in Snow White at De Montfort Hall in Leicester, what are you looking forward to for opening in the pantomime?

I look forward to panto every year and love working with new casts and making new friends. Panto is magical!

Having performed in Snow White previously, what is the pantomime like to be part of and how is it playing the Prince?

The first time I ever played the Prince I was so nervous because I wasn’t sure it suited me, but here I am four pantos in and I love playing him. I try to make him different every year!

How was it meeting the cast for the first time and how do you think it will be performing with them?

Day one always feels like the first day of school meeting the new cast. And watching them doing their thing in rehearsals never ceases to amaze me!

What can audiences expect from your portrayal of the character and how are you preparing for this year’s run in Leicester?

They can expect him to be a little cheeky and maybe a little too confident this year!

What do you enjoy most about performing in pantomimes and seeing children and families getting involved?

I love hearing the audiences laugh and interacting with the show from the wings, it’s exciting!

Why would you recommend booking tickets to see Snow White at De Montfort Hall this Christmas?

I recommend buying tickets to panto because everyone needs a bit of panto magic at Christmas!!

You joined CBeebies as a presenter in 2021, do you remember how you felt joining the channel and how is your time going with them so far?

Joining CBeebies was the most amazing thing to happen to me. The opportunity came out of the blue and changed my life!

During the May half term and summer holidays, you were performing with CBeebies House Party Live at Alton Towers, how was this?

CBeebies House Party Live is a fantastic live stage show which I was so lucky to be a part of and hope to do it again in summer 2025!

Can you tell us about signing your 10-book deal with Sweet Cherry in June and how are you finding the experience writing your own books?

Yes! I happened to get a 10-book deal through Sweet Cherry for a series of children’s illustrated poems. My first book But Dancing Is For Girls! will be published in August 2025 – exciting!

How do you like to spend your free time?

At the minute I’m spending a lot of my free time being creative and writing and planning things for 2025!

What are you hoping 2025 brings for you?

I’m hoping 2025 brings me joy.
