Lily Fisher began her role of recurring character Georgie Spinelli in 2017 in General Hospital, which was her first experience on a TV set, having joined the cast at just six years old. Last year, in the live-action anime series One Piece, Lily played Young Nami, a role shared with Emily Rudd, with the series streaming on Netflix, and on the 16th February this year, the second series of Amy Schumer’s comedy drama Life & Beth was released, which sees Lily play Young Ann, having reprised her role from the first series. Previous projects for Lily have included playing Young Norma Jeane (Marilyn Monroe) in the 2022 Netflix film Blonde, with which she attended the red carpet premiere, and she’s had numerous guest roles including in an episode of Chad as Margaret opposite Nasim Pedrad as the titled character. Ahead of Series 2 of Life & Beth being released, we spoke to Lily about playing Young Ann in the comedy drama, her recurring role of Georgie Spinelli in General Hospital and working on the Netflix series One Piece as Young Nami.
Since 2017, you have played the recurring role of Georgie Spinelli in General Hospital, what do you enjoy most about working on the series and playing your character?
The role of Georgie was my first experience on a TV set, and from the start, everyone has been so supportive and have made it a super fun experience. I feel so lucky to have the role of Georgie!
How has it been developing the role over the years and returning to film new episodes?
I love looking back on old episodes from when I was six years old and realising how much I’ve developed my character. Now my character is a teenager, and I’m looking forward to new storylines!
What is Young Nami like to play in the new Netflix series One Piece and how did you feel finding out you’d booked the role (which you share with Emily Rudd)?
When I got the news, I was so shocked! I was so excited to be a part of such an amazing show. I love Nami’s character because she’s strong and tough even at such a young age. She has to learn to stand up for herself and take care of herself because her mother dies very early on in her life. Although I didn’t get to act with Emily, I did get to meet her and she was so kind. It was an honour to get to play her younger version!
What was it like on set of the series and seeing the costumes for the first time?
The set was amazing! Seeing the anime world in real life was surreal. I was so excited that I got to travel to South Africa! It’s a beautiful country and everyone we encountered there was so kind. I hope I can go back again!
The wardrobe department did a great job of making the costumes look identical to the ones the characters wear in the anime! I was so impressed when I first saw the costumes. I was shocked at how similar the outfits were to the anime!
How has it been seeing the fan response to the release of One Piece and who do you think will enjoy watching it?
Seeing the amazing fan response has felt incredible! Watching it for the first time was so exciting. It’s a fun, action-packed story, and people who haven’t even seen the anime will still love it! It’s amazing to see how much the hard work everyone put into this project has paid off.
You play Young Ann in Amy Schumer’s comedy drama Life & Beth, what is the show like to film?
The set of Life & Beth is a very fun, relaxed, loose, and comfortable environment. The entire cast and crew are so chill and supportive and it’s a very special show! I’m especially close with Violet Young, who plays Young Beth (my sister) in the show. We hang out outside of filming and we’re besties in the show, and in real life! I feel so grateful to have the role of Ann. So excited for Season 2!! 😉
How was it hearing that Life & Beth had been recommissioned for a second series and what are you looking forward to for the release of Series 2?
I’m so excited for its release! Filming Season 2 was great. Being back in NYC for over two months was so much fun and we loved exploring the city. I was so excited to be back and to reunite with the cast and crew. This season has heavier, more emotional storylines that I’m excited for the public to experience!

Having played Young Norma Jeane (Marilyn Monroe) in the 2022 Netflix film Blonde, how did you find the experience attending the red carpet premiere?
Honestly, I was extremely anxious. I wasn’t sure what questions I was going to be asked and I was nervous about having to think on the spot and answer all the questions. But once I got there, I realised there was nothing to be scared of! All the interviewers were so sweet and I had a great time. I can’t believe I got to attend the red carpet at such a young age. I was only 12!
What was it like guest-starring as Sarah in Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy?
I love dramatic roles, and the role of Sarah was definitely dramatic! It was an emotionally intense role, but the cast and crew were so kind and supportive so that made it a very fun experience! I became friends with my castmates Grey Damon, Jason Winston George, Toby Grey, and Cameron Gayden! Hope I can reunite with them soon.
You’ve previously filmed for an episode of Chad as Margaret opposite Nasim Pedrad, how was this?
Filming Chad was so fun! Chad was the first comedy role I had ever booked, and Nasim was super sweet and supportive. It was my first time using improv on set, and it caught me off guard when we first started going off script, but as we did more takes, I learned to be more loose and flexible. I’m very grateful that I had the experience of filming Chad because it showed me that it’s fun to improvise on set, and going off script doesn’t have to be scary!
How did you get into acting and was it something you always wanted to do?
When I was six months old, I modelled for Gymboree, and that was my first experience of being on set. My first time acting was at three years old, and I was in a commercial for Puracyn. I love acting because I love becoming different people, and meeting the cast and crew is always a highlight. I’ve also been lucky enough to get to travel for projects, and I’ve gone to amazing places such as South Africa, New York, and Oregon. I joined SAG in 2019, and since joining, work has been very steady. I feel very lucky.
What are some of your favourite films and TV shows to watch?
I’m absolutely obsessed with The Hunger Games series. I also really love Girl, Interrupted because the acting in it is absolutely amazing. The Bling Ring is another one of my favourites, because I love Sofia Coppola’s dreamlike style. I also love 500 Days of Summer because it has a great soundtrack! Arrested Development, The Office, Derry Girls, and Gilmore Girls are some of my favourite TV shows.
How do you like to spend your free time?
In my free time, I like to do aerial silks. I’ve been doing aerials for over half my life (for seven years now!) and I love it because it’s a beautiful and fun way to be active, but it’s also relaxing. I also love music, and I’ve been playing guitar for around three years. I also really enjoy singing. I love to play anything by Taylor Swift! I have really started to love songwriting, and sometimes my friends and I write our own music together.
Nature is also a very big part of my life. My backyard is full of hiking trails and my family loves to hike as much as we can!
Do you have any projects coming up that you can tell us about and what are you hoping 2024 brings for you?
Yes! The second season of Life & Beth is dropping on February 16th, 2024. I had a wonderful time filming it and I was so happy to be back! I’m really looking forward to its release.
