In the Netflix/Dreamworks series Dew Drop Diaries, Spencer Moss voices Harper Ryan, which aired last year, with Series 2 having been released on December 4th. As a voice actor, Spencer voiced Auggie and Trudy in Puppy Dog Pals for Disney Junior, and across all three series of Fancy Nancy, Spencer voiced JoJo. On screen, Spencer was in the cast of indie film Susie Searches, played Marianne Fosse in the 2019 mini-series Fosse/Verdon, and upcoming, she is set to play the younger version of the lead character in short film Killer Set. Spencer chatted to us about voicing Harper Ryan in Dew Drop Diaries, working across all three series of Fancy Nancy and filming for Susie Searches.
Can you tell us about the Netflix/Dreamworks animated series Dew Drop Diaries and your character Harper Ryan?
Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me! I love playing the role of Harper Ryan! In the latest season, Harper gets up to lots of adventures that are resolved with the help of Eden and the Dew Drops – from accidentally leaving Wilford (her pet) at home on her way to the Fairhaven Pet Get Together, to finding the missing ingredient for her mom’s favourite dessert on Mother’s Day, and getting to the bottom of a mysterious noise in her bedroom. The reason I really love this show is because it depicts diverse characters with different body types, abilities, talents, personalities, backgrounds, and interests that accurately represent the beautiful, colourful world we live in!
Was there anything that drew you to the role and how is it reading the scripts for the first time?
I have quite a bit of experience in voiceover for youth. I was a series regular in Fancy Nancy on Disney Junior, with over 60 episodes. I also had a couple of recurring roles on Puppy Dog Pals. So, this is something I very much enjoy!
What is Harper like to voice and what does a typical day in the recording studio look like for the show?
Harper is a blast to voice! She loves her little baby brother and pets so much! Being in the studio is always so much fun because I love the creative team! We get the work done, but we laugh a lot also!
Do you have a favourite aspect of working on Dew Drop Diaries and how is it being part of the cast?
My favourite part of Dew Drop Diaries is getting to create an original character. She is all me!
Who do you think will enjoy watching Dew Drop Diaries, and what can new viewers expect from the recently-released Series 2?
It is definitely geared toward three to ten year olds. But, I am now 13 and I still find it cute and enjoyable to watch! My older sister did some babysitting over the summer, and the kids binged the first season over and over, so they were really excited the second season was dropped.
How was your time voicing Auggie and Trudy in Puppy Dog Pals for Disney Junior?
Auggie was such a blast because she was the cutest Great Dane puppy! Plus, I loved working with Allyson Bosch! She actually gave me the role after I had voiced Trudy the seal. Connections and relationships are so important in this business!
You voiced JoJo across all three series of Fancy Nancy, how would you describe JoJo and what was it like getting into character?
Oh my goodness! Being JoJo for all three seasons was beyond amazing! We were one big happy family! I didn’t want it to end, but I’m also glad that nobody took over my role! Ha! I wouldn’t have been able to voice a four year old if it had gone for another season. I really miss the cast and crew from Fancy Nancy!

What are some of your favourite memories from being part of Fancy Nancy over the years?
When you work for Disney, they treat you like one of their own! So, I got to bring my whole family to Disneyland twice! My mom, dad, and three siblings! We got a special guide and had the time of our lives! But mostly, I miss the friendships that were made. We are all still in touch through social media though, which is great!
What do you enjoy most about voiceover and how different do you find it to on-screen acting?
On-screen acting is a lot of hurry up and wait! Voiceover acting, you go in the booth, do your job, have a blast, then wait for the next session to do it all over again! Plus, you can come in your pyjamas if you want to (although I never did!).
In 2022, you were in the cast of the indie film Susie Searches, can you tell us about this?
It was filmed during COVID, and I felt really lucky to be given a chance to have a small part of an amazing film. It is SO, SO good! You have to watch it!! The writer/director is Sophie Kargman and I love her so much! She just had the most adorable baby ever! I am anxious to work with her again!
What was it like playing Marianne Fosse in an episode of the 2019 mini-series Fosse/Verdon?
I am a competitive dancer, so I already knew a lot about Bob Fosse! It was neat to be part of a period piece! Also, craft services made me the best chicken nuggets I’ve ever had!! Ha!
Where does your love of acting and voiceover come from and how did you get started in the industry?
Acting is my absolute passion that I was lucky to fall into. My older siblings were already in the industry, so that’s how I started. My older sister and I are the only ones still in the industry. My brothers only care about sports now!
Do you have any favourite films and TV shows to watch?
My favourite film is Knives Out. And my favourite television show is Wednesday.
How do you like to spend your free time?
All of my free time is spent dancing! I train 20 to 30 hours a week. I also love playing tennis, reading, and hanging out with my friends!
What are you hoping this year brings for your career and do you have any upcoming projects that you can tell us about?
I have a new short film coming out called Killer Set. Killer Set is a window into the life of a sociopathic funeral home director and her quest for adult friendship. I play the chilling young version of the lead character, Susan. I am excited to finally see the finished project!
