Having started posting covers to TikTok in 2019, Thomas now has 6.8m followers on the platform, and prior to his music career, he was a competitive football player. We spoke to Thomas, who answered our questions about releasing his new single and music video for The End, his holiday release of Santa Claus Is Back In Town and signing with Arista Records last year.
You recently released your new single and music video The End, can you tell us about the song and how long were you working on it?
I wrote the song in Los Angeles with Nick Ruth and Madi Yanofsky. It was a very beautiful and emotional writing session, and the song was written very fast. The song means everything to me. It’s a release and an answer to feeling alone in the world. I hope it makes whoever is listening feel loved.
What was the video like to film and how has it been seeing the listeners’ response to The End?
I absolutely LOVED filming this music video. I believe it completely captured the emotions I felt writing the song and it was beautiful seeing how it resonated with people.
How did the song come about and where did you get the inspiration from?
The past five years have been one big roller coaster for me, to say the least. I’ve been dealing with family, heartbreak, mental health, and other impactful subjects throughout all of these years and, for some reason, I had been thinking about all of it the day I wrote The End. I talked to Nick and Madi about how I had been feeling recently, and the song came from there. I think it’s beautifully written. This was my favourite writing session I’ve ever had. If you ever feel alone, scared, broken or hopeless, I hope that this song can be a release and a home for how you’re feeling.
What was it like releasing your holiday single Santa Claus Is Back In Town, and what encouraged you to release the single?
Santa Claus Is Back In Town has always been my favourite Christmas song. I used to listen to it on repeat when I was a little kid, so that’s definitely where the idea to cover it came from.
Having signed to Arista Records in 2021, what are you enjoying about releasing your own music?
I have loved every moment being signed to Arista Records so far. It honestly feels like a second home and like it’s one beautiful family. My entire life I have felt like my purpose was to help people and to have a job to make music that helps people has been an absolute dream.
How would you describe your sound and who do you think your music will appeal to?
My music and sound will always appeal to the heartbroken romantics of the world, but I believe it is for anyone.

Can you tell us about starting your TikTok account and how is it interacting with your followers around the world?
I started posting covers on TikTok in 2019. I was just posting videos of me singing old songs that I used to listen to in the car with my mom while driving to school. I absolutely adore and love anyone who listens to me or takes time out of their day to watch/listen to me sing. I’m honoured to be a part of anyone’s life!
Where does your love of music come from and how did you get into the industry?
Both of my parents are music lovers, along with the rest of my family. I grew up listening to the classics – The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, The Four Seasons and more were always playing around me.
Do you have any favourite music artists to listen to and which music artist would you most like to collaborate with?
I love all kinds of music! I listen to all types of music too. I will say I am obsessed with The Beatles. I would absolutely love to write a song with Paul McCartney some day. It seriously would be a dream come true.
How do you like to spend your time away from music?
Recently I have been meditating, spending time with friends and being in tune with my mental health as much as possible. I think it’s very important to do that.
What are some of your favourite memories from your time as a football player and did you have a favourite aspect of competing in the sport?
My whole life I have been competitive, so playing sports was always another release for me.
Can you tell us about any upcoming plans you have for your music career?
This next year I have a bunch of BIG releases and I am hoping to have a tour soon. My favourite music is COMING to all of you soon.
