Amelie Anstett has joined the cast of popular Brat show Chicken Girls in the latest series as Sadie, the girlfriend of Hayden Summerall’s character TK, which has been airing online, including Amazon Prime Video in the UK, this year. As a dancer on Justin Bieber’s Purpose Tour, Amelie received her big break into her career at twelve years old, and has appeared in many stage shows, and last year, she was the face of Totto Brand’s Exclusive Sebastian Yatra Line. Speaking with Amelie, we found out about filming as Sadie in Chicken Girls, performing on Justin Bieber’s Purpose Tour and being the face of the Sebastian Yatra Line with Totto Brand.

How did you feel booking the role of Sadie in Chicken Girls alongside a cast including Annie LeBlanc and Hayden Summerall?

I cannot even begin to express the level of excitement I had when I found out I booked the role of Sadie. I was over the moon, and the moment I got offered this project, I had no doubts about wanting to do it. I was immediately invested and excited to join such an amazing cast of incredibly talented individuals and make new friends. I am so grateful.

What did you know about the show before being cast?

I knew a lot about Chicken Girls and was definitely a fan. Brat and the creators of Chicken Girls were able to create such a dynamic and interesting hit show with so many different individuals and talent of different scopes.

Can you tell us about your character, and what was it like on your first day on set and meeting the cast?

Sadie is TK’s (Hayden Summerall) girlfriend in the show, and man
does she have a personality on her. She comes from Texas, so she is a cowgirl. Getting to play her is so much fun. She is definitely a country girly-girl, that is very confident/sassy. My first day on set was definitely one to remember, of course, I was nervous, but I like to say nervcited (nervous and excited). I didn’t know anyone yet, but the moment I walked through the door, everyone from the cast and the entire crew were very welcoming, warm, and inviting. We all became friends very quickly.

What’s the viewers’ response been like to your character joining the show?

It has been so cool to see how the fans are reacting to my character Sadie. Overall, the responses have been amazing. Most of the fans do not love the character Sadie because she has a bit of a mean streak; however, they love the excitement and twist she brings to the show. They enjoy her storyline and are excited to see more of Sadie in the future. It has also been so humbling to see all the fans posting edits and comments saying how much they love me, Amelie, in real life. I am glad that people have been able to see my real personality versus my character’s personality.

What’s your favourite aspect of being involved with a Brat series?

I am so incredibly grateful to be a part of one of Brat’s amazing series. I have so many things that I love about Brat, but my favourite would probably be that it is like a family, we all support each other a lot and formed great bonds. I also enjoy being involved with Brat because they have so many fans from all over the world that we can help positively impact lives. This particular series, Series 6, addresses a lot of key and important issues that many kids/teens face. I enjoyed getting to be a part of a series that addresses those issues and concerns and helps give kids/teens hope and understanding. We are all the same, just trying to navigate through life.

We understand you have a passion for theatre, can you tell us about some of the productions you’ve appeared in?

The theatre is something I did when I was younger, and it allowed me to discover my passion for performing. I always enjoyed making people smile, laugh, and feel things through my storytelling. I was in The Lion King, Legally Blonde, Neverland, and a few other amazing productions throughout Central and South Florida, and those experiences were definitely ones to remember.

As a dancer, you’ve performed on Justin Bieber’s Purpose Tour, how was this and can you tell us about competing at dance competitions?

My big break into the entertainment industry was when I was twelve years old and danced on stage with Justin Bieber. That moment changed my life forever, and it allowed me to really see my true passion and calling. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life, and I am so thankful I got the opportunity to perform and gain insight from Justin, he continues to inspire me daily. On the other hand, I have been competing in dance competitions for a very long time, and I definitely think they help me prepare for all my big performances. Dance comps help me get out of my comfort zone and experience/try new aspects of dance.

Last year, you were the face of Totto Brand’s Exclusive Sebastian Yatra Line, how was the experience on this campaign?

Working on the campaign with Sebastian Yatra was a surreal experience, and getting to be one of the campaign’s faces was so exciting. At first, I was a little nervous because Sebastian is such a big name and has worked with the Jonas Brothers and more, so I wasn’t sure how he was going to be, but he immediately started to talk to all of us like we were his buddies, like we had been friends a long time, like he was just like us. I was blown away by his kindness and by the way that the entire staff and crew treated everybody. It was one of the friendliest sets I’ve ever been on. I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to support Yatra and help bring his creations to life. Totto Brand’s and Yatra’s passion for creating a line for people of all ages to enjoy and to bring such vibrant and eclectic designs to the world is pretty remarkable.

How did you get into theatre, dance, and acting?

My whole career started out with dance, and being able to dance is a great feeling I cherish every day. Early on in my life, my parents started to see I was unusually flexible. I began to dance at the age of seven when there were no gymnastics/acrobatic studios in my town. However, there was a dance studio, so I started to take dance classes. At first, it was just one or two classes, but soon, teachers were calling my mom and inviting me to participate in their other classes. Sometimes things work in funny ways. As I got older and started competing, it became a lot more hours of training. Getting into the competitive side of dance helped prepare me for the audition process in some ways, and of course, performing on stage and doing theatre performances helped. I started acting way later in my career, I have always enjoyed theatre and playing characters/entertaining people, but never fully pursued acting until now.

Do you have a favourite TV/theatre show to watch?

Of course! I am such a big fan of so many shows, but if I had to choose, some of my favourites would include Manifest, Outer Banks, Grey’s Anatomy, Curb Your Enthusiasm (I love a good witty, funny show), and so many more. For musicals, I love Legally Blonde, Beauty and the Beast, School of Rock, Wicked, SpongeBob the Musical, and the list goes on!

How do you like to spend your free time?

Eeek, this is such a hard question, I am definitely an adventurous teen haha and when I am not acting, dancing, tumbling, etc. I really enjoy boating, spending time with my family and friends, and just living life to the fullest.

What upcoming plans do you have for your career?

I have so many BIG career goals, and I am so thankful to be given the opportunities and have such an amazing support system. I am a big believer in “everything happens for a reason”, so I just continue to follow my path and work incredibly hard to make my dreams come true. One of my big goals is to be able to use my platform to spread positivity and lift people up. I love interacting with my fans and those who support me because I want them to know I support them just the same. I think that this generation is different than the rest, and I would love to use my motto, “Be Original”, to share that it is amazing to be who you truly are. Be on the lookout for some of my upcoming projects!
