Talking to us, Kacey tells us about hosting her radio show on Teens of America Radio Network, filming for Kids React and her YouTube channel.
You have already released a number of original singles, where do you get the inspiration from to write your original music?
I get inspired by people and situations around me and in my life. When I find a topic or a subject that needs to be addressed, I start writing lyrics. I love to write and I love to sing. My original songs carry important messages. I hope to contribute to making the world a better place.
Is there anyone you would most like to collaborate musically with?
I’d love to collaborate with Lin-Manuel Miranda. He wrote my favourite musical, Hamilton, and is an incredible composer and rapper! That would be a dream come true!
As an actor, you appeared in Nickelodeon’s Game Shakers as Karissa, how did you find the experience being on set?
I loved being on Game Shakers! It was such a great experience. The entire cast and crew were welcoming and fun to hang out with! There was an upstairs game room where we played ping-pong, football and had cotton candy in between rehearsal and filming. I made friends who I still keep in touch with! But most of all, I enjoyed being on set with a group of talented actors and working with a great director and an amazing Nickelodeon producer, Dan Schneider.
You were nominated at the 2016 Young Artist Awards for your performances in Clique Wars and The Lemonade Wars, did you attend the ceremony and what was it like?
I did attend the awards ceremony! It was such an honour being nominated and so cool to see myself on the screen among other fantastic young actors.

What do you enjoy most about attending film festivals?
I’ve attended quite a few festivals for my music video Hear Me Out and some short films I’ve been in. I particularly enjoyed attending the Dances With Films festival in the Chinese theatre and watching my music video being honoured for its message.
Have you always wanted to release music and get into acting?
Yes! I’ve always loved singing and acting and wanted to do it professionally. The fact that I’m doing what I always wanted to do as a child humbles me every day.
You are part of the YouTube channel Kids React, can you tell us about the series?
Kids React is a viral YouTube series where kids react to viral videos, controversial foods, important topics, music, old technology and more. It’s the kids’ take on many issues, popular videos, music and more.
What is Kids React like to be involved with?
I love Kids React! It’s so fun to share my reactions and opinions with the world. We get to watch funny videos, music videos and other popular videos. I never know what to expect when I go to taping so it’s always very fun and often challenging.
You run your own YouTube channel – Kacey Fifield Variety, why did you decide to start it and what are your upload plans?
A few years ago I loved filming funny vlog-type videos with my friends and editing them on my iPad, so I decided to actually start posting! I love having a YouTube channel and I’m trying to upload more often on Kacey Fifield Variety. I upload a variety of different videos: vlogs, music, games, challenges and more. I’m planning on posting more covers and keep growing my channel with new and engaging content. I have a ton of fun new videos waiting for me to edit and upload! Can’t wait to share!

Can you tell us about your radio show on Teens of America Radio Network and how often do you work on it?
My radio show is called the Hear Me Out with Kacey Fifield hour and it consists of three segments – one is usually an interview, one is a serious topic and the last one is light-hearted or funny. Currently, the radio network is running re-runs as we are designing new and improved programming. Teens of America Radio Network is geared towards teens and discusses many important issues that teens face in today’s world.
If you hadn’t set your sights on a career in the entertainment industry, do you know what you’d like to have done for a living?
I probably would’ve wanted to be a lawyer for animal rights. I’ve always loved the idea of being a lawyer and debating serious topics but I’d never be able to defend someone if I thought they were guilty. Animal Rights is something I’m passionate about and want to make a change in.
When did you start being passionate about animals and how did you get involved with helping at animal charities?
About five years ago, I got involved with a dog rescue, Muttshack. I volunteered there for the last five years and walked, fed, adopted out and fundraised for rescued dogs. In the meantime, I’ve become vegetarian, adopted two rescue cats and become part of Farm Sanctuary’s youth council (a sanctuary for abused farm animals). I feel like animals deserve a happy and full life just like us and we have to speak up for the voiceless. I love animals so much and hope to someday have an animal sanctuary of my own.
Can you tell us about your current projects?
I am working on a couple of new original songs, a Christmas cover, new videos for my YouTube channel, Kacey Fifield Variety, and I am auditioning for new acting parts. Stay tuned!
