Vanessa Fox was seen in the 2025 Christmas episode Sugar Plum Murdoch of Murdoch Mysteries, and in Series 3 of Ginny & Georgia, she played Young Norah – the younger version of Chelsea Clark’s character. For Vanessa’s first recurring TV role, she played Abigail across both series of the sketch comedy series Pillow Talk, and she worked alongside Sasha Clements (her on-screen mother), Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman when she was cast as Posie in the Lifetime film A Christmas Dance Reunion. Also having a commercial and campaign experience, Vanessa’s projects include McDonald’s and PetSmart. Answering our questions, Vanessa talks about working on the 2025 Christmas episode of Murdoch Mysteries, filming as Young Norah in Ginny & Georgia, her first recurring TV role of Abigail in Pillow Talk and being in the cast of Lifetime film A Christmas Dance Reunion as Posie.
How did you find the experience being involved with the 2025 Christmas episode of Murdoch Mysteries – Sugar Plum Murdoch, and how did you feel booking your role?
I was really excited when I booked my role, especially because dance has always been a huge part of my life. I especially love ballet, and The Nutcracker is one of my favourites, so being part of a Christmas episode that involved dance felt really special to me.
Before booking the role, I actually hadn’t watched Murdoch Mysteries. After I found out I was cast, I started watching it with my dad, and I was honestly amazed that the show is already on Season 19. Seeing how long it’s been on and how much people love it made me realise how big and special the show is, which made being part of it even more exciting.
What was it like on set of Murdoch Mysteries and how did you prepare for filming?
Being on set felt like stepping back in time. Everyone was dressed in old-fashioned costumes, and the sets and backgrounds looked like they were from a long time ago, which was really cool to see in person.
Before filming, we rehearsed the dance with Amy Wright, who cast the dancers for the show. We had one full day to practice the choreography, and then we came back later for filming. Rehearsing first really helped me feel comfortable and confident on set, and I tried to enjoy every moment.
You played Young Norah in Ginny & Georgia Series 3; how was it playing the younger version of Chelsea Clark’s character and filming with the other young cast members?
It felt like such an honour to play the younger version of Norah, who is a character so many people already know and love. Being trusted to play her at a younger age meant a lot to me.
I also already knew the actress who played Young Abby. We used to be with the same agency and took a modelling class together, so it was really nice to work with someone I already knew on set. Most of the young cast members were close in age, which made filming feel comfortable and fun, and everyone was very kind and supportive.
How was it seeing the fan response to your episode of Ginny & Georgia, and what did you enjoy most about filming the show?
Seeing the fan response was amazing and honestly a little surprising. I loved knowing that people enjoyed the episode and recognised the character.
What I enjoyed most was working with the other young actors and being part of such a big and popular series. It made the whole experience feel really special.
Can you tell us about the 2022 sketch comedy series Pillow Talk and your character Abigail?
Pillow Talk was really fun because it’s a sketch comedy series, which was different from anything I had done before. Every sketch felt a little different, so it kept things exciting and helped me learn a lot.
My character, Abigail, is expressive, confident, and a bit dramatic in a fun way. She isn’t afraid to say what she’s thinking, which made her really fun to play. I loved getting to be playful and work on my comedic timing, and it helped me grow more confident as an actor.
What was it like developing the role of Abigail across both series and having your first recurring TV role?
Having a recurring role was really exciting for me. It helped me grow as an actor because I got to come back to the same character and develop her more over time.
It was really special to have my first recurring role on a TV series, and it made me even more excited about acting.
In the Lifetime film A Christmas Dance Reunion, you played Posie, what was it like working on that film?
A Christmas Dance Reunion was very special to me because it was my very first booking as an actor. I love dancing, so being part of a film that included dance felt like the perfect way to start my career.
It was filmed at Deerhurst Resort, which was really beautiful, and everyone on set was so kind and welcoming. I also made new friends while filming, which made the experience even more fun. Meeting Corbin (Bleu), Sasha (Clements), and Monique Coleman was so special for me, and it made the whole experience even more memorable. Being on that set helped me realise how much I love acting and being part of film projects.

What was Posie like to play and what are some of your favourite memories from being on set?
Posie was sweet, loving, and full of heart, which made her really fun to play.
My favourite memories were dancing on set, being at Deerhurst Resort, and spending time with the cast between takes. The resort felt cosy and special, and everyone was so friendly, which made filming really fun and comfortable.
How was it watching A Christmas Dance Reunion for the first time when it aired on Lifetime?
Watching it for the first time was really fun. I watched it with my family near Christmas, which made the experience extra special.
It was exciting seeing everything come together on screen.
You’ve also appeared in commercials and campaigns for many brands, can you tell us about that experience?
I really enjoy doing commercials because they’re usually a quick experience, often just one or two days of filming. They’re fast-paced and fun, and you get to meet new people and work on different sets each time.
I’ve appeared in commercials and campaigns for brands like McDonald’s, A&W, PetSmart, the Government of Canada, and Trelegy. Commercials have helped me learn a lot, especially how to take direction quickly and stay focused on set, and they’ve been a great part of my acting journey.
Where does your love of acting come from and how did you get into it?
My love of acting started when I was really young. When I was about six years old, I remember watching TV and asking my parents how people got to be on TV, because I thought it was so cool that people could watch you from their own homes.
They explained that it was acting and modelling, and I kept asking if I could try it. My parents helped me look for an agency and reached out to one for me. After that, we met with the agent, and that’s how everything started. From there, I began taking classes and submitting online self-tape auditions, with callbacks over Zoom, and I realised how much I loved acting.
Do you have any favourite films and TV shows to watch?
Some of my favourite TV shows are Stranger Things and Modern Family. I love comedy because it’s fun and light, but I also really enjoy mystery shows. I like watching different kinds of shows because they all inspire me in different ways.
How do you like to spend your free time?
In my free time, I love dancing and listening to music. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching movies, and studying. When I have quiet time, I like to relax and just enjoy doing things I love.
Have you received any advice over your time as an actor so far that has stuck with you?
One piece of advice that has really stuck with me is to never give up easily and to always try your best. I’ve also learned how important it is to listen, stay focused, and be kind to everyone on set. Remembering to believe in myself and enjoy the process has helped me a lot.
What are you hoping 2026 brings for your acting career, and do you have any projects coming up you can talk about?
I’m hoping 2026 brings more opportunities to learn and grow as an actor and to take on new challenges. I really enjoy trying different kinds of roles and continuing to improve.
There is one project I can’t talk about yet, but I’m really excited and grateful for the opportunity. I’m looking forward to seeing what the year brings and continuing to work hard.
